June ARPC Events

Arlington Rifle and Pistol Club

We have a lot of events in June:

Saturday, June 4th from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Arlington Sponsored 3 Position Juniors Championship on the Barnes Multipurpose Range – We need at least 12 volunteers to help setting up and taking down target frames, assisting with the food concession, scoring, registration and watching the line. Please come out and help. It is a great opportunity to socialize and show your support to our Juniors program. This is one of two Juniors tournaments Arlington Sponsors. We can’t do these without your help.

Wednesday, June 8th, Club Meeting from 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. in Memorial Hall. Please bring any show and tell items you may have.

Sunday, June 12th -Steel Plate Pistol shoot from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. on the pistol range. Eye and ear protection is required. We will have our new pistol plate rack out at this shoot.

Saturday, June 18th Fundraiser Frame Build supporting our Juniors program. No tools or special skills are required. We work on an assembly line basis, where each person performs one or two simple tasks. It is a lot of fun and everyone leaves with a good feeling, because you supported our Juniors program.

Saturday, June 25th – Bust Fest – This is one of our most popular events. Each shooter shoots one to two birds at a time. Ammunition requirements: Target loads of #7.5, #8 or #9 shot with no greater than 1200 Feet Per Second (FPS). The cost is $15.00 for all the birds you want to break.

Thank you,

Rob

29 May 2016 Arlington Rifle and Pistol 3-Gun Steel Event

Sunday 29 May 0900-1500 hrs, Arlington Rifle and Pistol will be hosting a 3-Gun Steel event on the AGC 200yd range. It is open to ARPC, AGC members and invited guests only. It has been a while since we have had a 3-Gun event and the weather is forecasted to be beautiful. The club recently made a large steel purchase that includes pepper poppers, pistol plate rack, and knockdown shotgun targets. This will be the most elaborate course of fire to date.

What you need:

AR semiauto rifle that shoots .223 or 5.56 (no armor piercing or M855 green tip)
Semiauto pistol in 9, 40 or 45 (no magnum rounds)
Shotgun (pump or semiauto) Bird shot ammo only
Magazine fed shotguns are fine but be prepared to be ridiculed while you jam after every round fired.
Minimum 2 magazines per firearm
Minimum 150 rds of rifle and pistol, 100 rds bird shot
Serviceable holster rig to carry pistol and magazines
Hearing protection
Full coverage ballistic eye protection (Wal-Mart sunglasses or standard prescription eyewear doesn’t count)

Suggestions:

Folding chair, shotgun shell caddy, rifle mag holder, rifle sling, water, gun cleaning kit, sunscreen, bug spray, hat, and a willingness to win

Course of Fire:

You will find out the course when you arrive. The load out is not specified. Carry as much as you want. This course of fire will require running as there is a large distance between shooting points. In an effort keep things moving and allowing for multiple runs per person, the match director will ask that everyone be ready to shoot when they come to the line and hustle to reset the steel and move off the course.

Safety and Administrative:

Safety brief is at 0900. No one shoots without a safety brief. Those that wish to help with setup, may show up at the club shed at 0800 for load out and setup. We will have chow cooked on the range for donations, so bring some cash. There is a $10 dollar donation per shooter for the event. Donations will go to the club steel fund. Anyone looking to become an ARPC member, may apply at the event. We should also have some ARPC T-shirts for sale for $15.

Please do not ask to shoot any firearms other than AR semiautos, standard semiauto or pump shotguns and typical semiauto pistols. We hate to bring this up every time but there is always one shooter that wants to shoot grand daddy’s musket, M1 or Makarov pistol. This is a friendly but competitive event. Standardization of firearms minimizes risk and keeps everyone from waiting to shoot while you load or fix a jammed musket. So please don’t be that fella that shows up with a baseball bat to play football.

Above all, it is Memorial Day weekend. It is the tday that we remember and show respect for those that died during combat actions. So come out and have some fun slingin’ rounds at steel in their honor.
