Arlington Rifle and Pistol Club Newsletter for June 2015

Arlington has had an amazing year so far!

Our Annual Libby Juniors Match – We just finished the largest Libby Match that anyone can remember having. We had teams from Virginia and the surrounding area compete. I have never been so proud of our club as I was this Saturday. We had at least 30 Arlington volunteers and several volunteers from other AGC clubs help us this Saturday. Anything that needed to be done, we had a swarm of volunteers pitching in to help. Please accept my heartfelt thanks for coming out to support the area youth this weekend.

Tuesday night Multi-Gun Steel Shoots – People are all asking about our Tuesday night shoots. Paul is doing a terrific job on expanding our run and gun Action Shooting program.

Last Sunday’s 3-gun shoot was a joint event with Old Post, Greenbelt and Arlington. It is always a great time shooting with these clubs. They have terrific people who are fun to shoot with and always pitch in with anything that needs to be done. We had a lot of fun breaking in the new tactical steel targets we purchased. Everyone had a blast running though the course. Each time, Paul would put a different twist on the course to make it more interesting.

Women on Target – We had six Arlington Club members get their NRA Basic Instructor Training and earn their NRA Instructors Certificate in pistol last weekend. We hope to have our first training class in the late summer. Thank you to our club members who attended this training.

Upcoming events:

Tuesday Night Tactical Shoot will be held every Tuesday evening from 5:15 – 8:00 p.m. at the 200-yard range. Paul will be running everyone though our tactical steel course. Bring your AR-15 and pistol. Ammunition requirements: You will be restricted to .233 or 5.56 non-armor piercing rifle ammunition. Pistol Ammunition may be of any standard caliber.

Wednesday, June 10th from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. our June Club Meeting will be held on in Memorial Hall.
We are honored to have a special speaker from MSI talk to us about what is happening in Maryland with gun legislation, court cases and what we can do to help defend our rights. If you want the latest information on what is happening in Maryland gun laws, I highly recommend you attend this meeting. We will discuss our upcoming programs and events. Don’t forget to bring in a show and tell item. I know many of you have been adding to your collections.

Sunday June 14th from 9:00 – a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Steel Plate Pistol Shoot at the Pistol range. We will be shooting steel plates, having an stuffed animal safari shoot, NRA Marksmanship Qualifications, paper targets and possibly a stake shoot or two. These shoots are very popular. Please come out early and help us set up this shoot.

Saturday, June 20 – Fundraiser Frame Build benefitting Arlington Juniors in the lower Barnes Range House. From 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. No tools or experience are necessary, we build the frames on an assembly line basis.

Saturday, June 27th– Bust Fest – For $10, you get to break all the birds you want. The last Bust Fest was a huge success. Come out to one of Arlington’s most popular events. Please remember, target loads only with #7.5, #8, or #9 shot with a velocity of 1200 Feet Per Second (FPS) due to the proximity of Marriottsville road are allowed.

***PLEASE Note the July 4th Frame Build is cancelled due to the Holiday.

Thank you to all of our volunteers. We could not have the quality events that we have without your help.

Have a great spring!

Rob

Big Weekend is planned for Arlington Rifle and Pistol Club

To Arlington Rifle and Pistol Club,

We have a big weekend planned and we need your help on Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday, May 30th from 9:00 – 12:00, we will be building 30 competition target frames for the upcoming Libby Match. This will be the biggest Libby match in years. We are expecting as many as 75 competitors. Please help us and come out to the Juniors shed and lend a hand. These are simple frames to build. No tools or woodworking skills are required.

Sunday, May 31st from 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., Arlington, Old Post and Greenbelt are teaming up to have a 3-Gun shoot at the AGC 200 yard range. This will be a good one. We will have our new steel targets out for the shoot. We will need help setting up the targets, so please come out at 8:15 a.m. We also need help with the food concession. We will have a lot of hungry and thirsty shooters. Mom Pat and Pat K. will be taking a class, so we need several good people to support the concession.

Thank you to everyone for volunteering your time to help your club. We could not possibly have the quality events we have without your help.

Have a great weekend!
