Berm Work this Saturday Typo

Members,

Due to old age, RF and lead exposure over the years, I put 3 Oct instead of 3 Nov in the last post for the this weekend’s berm work day. Thanks for your understanding. If you show up on 3 Oct, you get extra credit and have to teach me how you travelled back in time.

Saturday Hesco barrier work

Members,

We are working this Saturday, 3 Oct at 0800hrs, on the action shooting range. As we stated previously, we request able bodied volunteers that will be getting in an out of Hesco barriers to move and tamp dirt with shovels as well as standing up barriers. All of this is physically intense work for most folks. Please check with your physician before you think of coming out to help. Other notes: You will get muddy and dirty. Wear boots and not your Sunday’s best clothing. Bring your favorite shove, gloves and a folding ladder if you have one. We were out there for 8 plus hours at the last work event. This Saturday will probably be no exception. Its Ok if you can only come out for a few hours. Thank you in advance for those that make it out.

Reminder: We have a Bust Fest this Sunday

To Arlington Rifle and Pistol Club,

Sunday, November 4thfrom 9:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m., Arlington is having a Bust Fest on Trap 1. This event is a lot of fun. It’s a great way to learn how to shoot trap or try out different shotguns. Bring a box of clays or $15 to cover the cost of a box of clays from the AGC. Ammo Requirements: Target loads with #7.5, #8 or #9 shot with a velocity of 1200 Feet Per Second (FPS) or less.

Thank you,

Rob

Berm Work Day This Saturday Canx

Members,

This weekend’s berm work day is cancelled. We are having weather and equipment availability issues. We apologize for all the back and forth on this project but this is indicative of an all volunteer run project. It is nobody’s fault. We are looking to have a Berm work day on 3 November. I will send out updates as we get closer to the event.

Also, due to the weather being forecast for 100% rain this Saturday, there will be no action shooting event.

Thanks for your understanding and patience.

Berm Work this Weekend

Members,

We are planning to setup the Hesco barriers on lane 5 this Saturday. Requesting help from able bodied members that can climb in and out of barrier to move dirt to the corners after loader dumps a few bucket loads. It will be a full day of work. Please bring your favorite gloves, shovel and an 8ft ladder I you own one, Once again, you will get range badge credit for hours worked.

Plan on getting your boots very muddy. Recommend you also not wear nice clothing. There will be a weather call on Friday if we need to cancel. I am told there will be an additional piece of heavy machinery to load dirt faster this time around. If you want to see your XO’s head explode, ask him a ton of irrelevant questions during the work day.

Thanks

This Saturday Berm Work

Members,

I know this is a last minute call for help but there are many moving parts that are crucial and are out of our control to get this work done. We have the heavy equipment loader with operator laid on for this Saturday at 0900hrs.

We request help from physically able bodies that can climb in and out of the 7 ft tall barriers to tamp the dirt as well as folks that can manually remove trash from the fill dirt as it is moved around by the loader.

We are planning for a full day of work. Word is that we will order pizza. Bring your own water and pain meds as needed. Bring your favorite shovel. I have to recheck but the EVP should be granting AGC volunteer hours for your efforts.

We don’t need any more foremans or site leads. We have enough of those already. We appreciate anyone that can make it even if it is only for a few hours.

The goal is to get one row barrier up to bisect the range in one day. The dirt is the issue with all the trash in it and is what is making this job so difficult. Normally, you could get the whole range done in a week if we had clean sand or fill dirt with a loader. This trashy dirt was free. We will make the best of it.

Hope to see you there
