Help needed Saturday for the Dave Boone Memorial Tournament

To Arlington Rifle and Pistol Club,

Arlington is sponsoring the Dave Boone Memorial 3 position small bore match this coming Saturday from 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. on the Barnes Range. Dave Boone was a huge supporter of our Juniors program. This tournament is named in his honor. We need volunteers to help running the match. We are expecting up to 60 competitors this year.

We need your help:

– six volunteers are needed to set up target stands starting at 8:00 a.m. (meet at the Juniors shed at the far end of the Barnes Range)

– volunteers to help with the food preparation next to our club shed

– volunteers to help with scoring

Please come out and support our club.

Thank you very much!

Rob

P.S. There is a small bore rimfire only restriction during the match.

To: Arlington Rifle and Pistol Club

We will be hosting a 3 Gun event on Sunday, 27 May on the AGC 200 yd range from 0900 to 1400 hrs. If it rains, the shoot will be converted to a 200 yard steel plate shoot

Ammo requirements:

.223/ 5.56 only for rifle (no green tip or armor piercing)

9, 40, 45 for pistol (no magnum)

Trap load only shot for shotgun

Firearms:

AR and AR type variants. No AR pistols or AK’s.

Semiauto pistols preferred

Shotgun of your choice as long as it operates safely.

Gear:

Holster, mag holders, shell caddy, pistol belt, full coverage eye protection, ear protection, wear appropriate clothing for the weather, and bring at least two mags per gun. Work gloves are a good idea if you are handling steel. A folding chair is recommended.

We will be at the Arlington club shed for load out at around 0800hrs and then setup on the 200 yd range. The general rule of thumb is either be early to help setup or stay late to breakdown. We get on and off the range faster with all of your help.

The safety brief is at 0900 and every shooter arriving will get a brief before they participate. The event starts as soon as everyone is briefed. No one shoots without a safety briefing. This is formatted event with a 0900ish start time. So please be on time.

Shooter donation for the steel fund is $10.

Thank you,

Rob Cowan

Reminder: Arlington’s Bust Fest is on Trap 1 Tomorrow, Saturday, May 12, from 9:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

To Arlington Rifle and Pistol Club.

Tomorrow – Saturday, May 12, 2018 – We will be having a bust fest from 9:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. at the Trap Range. You can bring a box of clays or pay $15 and shoot clays all day. This is a really fun event and for those who have not shot trap before, it is a great opportunity to learn how to shoot trap.

If you are coming from the Howard County side of Marriottsville Road, there will be a detour. The railroad crossing is being repaired. The detour is pretty easy and goes through some beautiful countryside. From Marriottsville Road, you will make a right onto Old Frederick Road, then a left onto Granite Road. Granite Road goes on for several miles and dead ends onto Marriottsville Road. Make a left onto Marriottsville Road and go past the quarries. You will come to Wards Chapel Road within a mile or so.

Its always great to learn a detour for that area, because of traffic, accidents or road work.

I hope you can all come out. The bust fest are a lot of fun!

Thank you,

Rob
