ARPC 3 Gun Event, Saturday 3 March 2018 0900-1400

Members,

Arlington Rifle and Pistol Club will be hosting a 3 Gun event on Saturday 3 March on the AGC 200 yd range from 0900 to 1400. This is a TWO stage event. We will commence the first stage at 0900 and once all have completed, we will reset for the second stage. Once both stages are completed, we will have some open shooting time. Be mindful that if you show up in the middle of the stage, you will have to wait until the next stage or when all other shooters are done before you can join the event.

Ammo:

.223/ 5.56 only for rifle (no green tip or armor piercing)

9, 40, 45 for pistol (no magnum)

Bird shot for shotgun

Firearms:

AR and AR type variants. No AR pistols or AK’s.

Semiauto pistols preferred

Shotgun of your choice as long as it operates safely and doesn’t jam more than it shoots.

Gear:

Holster, mag holders, shell caddy, pistol belt, full coverage eye pro, ear pro, weather appropriate clothing, and at least two mags per gun. Work gloves are a good idea if you are handling lead infested steel.

We will be at the club shed for load out at around 0800hrs and then setup on the 200 yd range.

The safety brief is at 0900 and every shooter arriving will get a brief before they participate. The event starts as soon as everyone is briefed. No one shoots without a safety brief. This is formatted event with a 0900ish start time. So please be on time.

Shooter donation for the steel fund is $10 and be sure to bring some cash for some hot chow on the range.

IMPORTANT NOTE: If there is a weather call due to unforeseen weather, we will convert this event to a 200 yd static steel rifle only shooting event. Keep an eye out for emails through the club website for updates.

Any questions, send me an email through the website to the Executive Officer link. See you there!

MSI in urging our members and all who care about the Second Amendment to come out to Annapolis on Tuesday, March 6, 2018! This is gun bill day in the House of Delegates, and no rally or formal hosted event is planned. So far 38 bills are scheduled for this day.

This details everything you need to know to prepare yourself to testify. Note that you must submit written testimony on site, if you so choose (this is not required), by 11: AM.

If you can, please make an effort to show your presence in Annapolis. There are a lot of 2A-related bills this year. If you can’t attend, please try to visit your Delegate. At a minimum, please let your Delegate know your views on these bills. It doesn’t have to be all the bills. Please remember that civility in all communications is essential.

Location:

House Office Building, 6 Bladen St., Annapolis, Maryland,

Times:

11:00 AM – Written testimony needs to be submitted on site by this time

12:30 PM- Oral testimony sign-up cutoff

1:00 PM – The hearing begins

This will probably go well into the evening, and maybe later.

In the past they have allowed people to testify who were not signed up, so if you can’t make the early times that does not necessarily mean you can’t testify. If you want someone to sign you up, please contact us at info@marylandshallissue .org and we will do our best to get you signed up.

ALERT! The next Senate Gun Bill Hearing is on Wednesday, February 28th – Ban on loaning a regulated firearm and banning Rapid fire trigger activator and bump stocks and cranks

To Arlington Rifle and Pistol Club,

There will be another Gun Bill Hearing with the MD Senate Judicial Committee on Wednesday, February 28th. Please email the Senate Judicial committee and your local representatives. The Baltimore City Police testifying yesterday said they couldn’t think of a single example of a legally owned firearm being used in a crime.

The two bills being heard are:

SB-860 – Regulated Firearms Transfer

This bill would prohibit the loan of a regulated firearm.

In this section "TRANSFER" includes a loan other than a temporary gratuitous change of a regulated firearm between two individuals who remain in the same location for the duration of the exchange.

If this passes, there will be no more loaning of a regulated gun folks.

SB-707 Rapid Fire Trigger Activator – Possession, selling, offering to sell, transferring, purchasing or receiving a certain rapid fire trigger activator.

Rapid Fire trigger activator – means any device, part, or combination of devices or parts that is designed and functions to accelerate the rate of fire of a firearm beyond the standard rate of fire for firearms that are not equipped with that device, part, or combination of devices or parts.

Rapid fire trigger activator includes a bump stock and trigger crank.

A Person may not:

1. Transport a rapid fire trigger activator into the state.
2. Manufacture, possess, sell, offer to sell, transfer purchase, or receiver a rapid fire trigger activator.

Except as otherwise provided in this subtitle a person who violates this subtitle is guilty of a misdemeanor and on conviction is subject to imprisonment not exceeding 3 years of a fine not exceeding $5000 or both.

A person who uses an assault weapon, a rapid fire Trigger Activator or magazine that has a capacity of more than 10 rounds of ammunition in the commission of a felony or crime of violence as defined in 5-101 of the public safety article is guilty of a misdemeanor.

Please make your voice heard. You can email one of the committees or the entire House and Senate with one click. There is a link to email them on the AGC home page under "legislative". You can call or visit your representative to inform them of your viewpoint. Please be polite and brief. You can also come to the Senate and House Hearings for these bills. The listing below lets you know what committees and when the hearings are going to be held. I recommend getting there around 11:00 a.m. if you wish to sign up to testify. The hearings generally start at 1:00 p.m. They are quite educational. If you wish too testify, you get about two minutes or you can just go and say if you support or are opposed to a given bill. Being there makes a difference!

I park at the Navy Marine Corps Stadium and take the shuttle to the House or Senate Buildings. It used to cost $5 to park and the shuttle costs $2 each way. Bring exact change for the shuttle.

Wednesday, February 28th, is the Senate Judicial Committee Hearing where they will be discussing Senate Bill 707 and 860. Please email the Senate Judicial Committee. You will be able to email all of the house, senate or committees with a click. It takes about 30 seconds to write a brief email about a bill you support or oppose.

Participating in the process is our civic duty. If we don’t let our legislators know what our positions are about these bills, we will end up living with the consequences when they pass.

Thank you,

Reminder Arlington Frame Build benefitting our Juniors Program is Saturday from 9:00 – 11:45 a.m.

To Arlington Rifle and Pistol Club,

Please come out and give us a hand with our clubs Fundraiser Frame Build to support our Juniors Program. It will be from 9:00 a.m. – 11:45 a.m. in the AGC maintenance building. No special skills or tools are required. We make the frames on an assembly line basis where each person performs one or two simple tasks. It is a lot of fun and we all leave with a good feeling for helping our Juniors.

Arlington is hosting the final week of a Juniors Air Rifle Tournament Sunday. Please come out and cheer for our Juniors. They are really amazing. We have 4 Juniors who qualified for the Junior Olympics in Colorado Springs this year! The other Juniors are really coming along and will be contenders next year.

Thanks to all of our volunteers. No other club has as many volunteers as we do. You are why our club is the best club at the AGC. I am so proud of all you have done to help our club and the AGC.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Rob
