Frame build scheduled for July 1st is cancelled

To Arlington Rifle and Pistol Club,

The July 1st fundraiser frame build is cancelled. We built 92 frames at the last frame build. The AGC currently has a substantial inventory. Their inventory of frames will not last long, because starting July 1st, new badge holders will be taking advantage of half price range badges. We will monitor the sales to ensure the AGC continues to have an adequate inventory.

May you and your families have a wonderful Independence Day.

Thank you for all of the support you have been giving to our club.

This is just a reminder that our Tuesday Night Steel scheduled for next week on the 4th of July is cancelled. Have a great 4th everyone!

Reminder: Bust Fest this Saturday

To Arlington Rifle and Pistol Club,

We have a Bust Fest this Saturday, June 24th from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. The cost is $15.00 for all the birds you want to break. This event is very popular. Club members can either learn how to shoot trap or have a lot of fun breaking several birds at a time. It is a great opportunity to try out different shotguns. The AGC restricts shotgun ammunition at the trap range to Target load only with #7.5, #8 or #9 shot with a velocity of no greater than 1200 Feet Per Second (FPS).

Have a great week!

Upcoming Arlington events for the balance of June 2017

Arlington Rifle and Pistol Club

Activities for June 2017

Thank you to all of you Arlington volunteers who came out to support our Juniors 3 Position Tournament. It was very successful and we received many complements for how well run it was.

We have a busy scheduled for the rest of this summer. The following events scheduled for June 2017.

1. Tuesday Night Steel Shoots will be every Tuesday on the 200-yard range unless it is raining, from 5:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. Make sure to check your email for cancellation if there is inclement weather.

2. Wednesday, June 14, 2017 Club Meeting in Memorial Hall Pellet room, from 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. We will discuss upcoming Arlington events and AGC events. We will have our swap meet at the back of the room and our show and tell time. Please bring in your latest acquisition or unique item to show to the club. We will also be having door prizes.

3. Saturday, June 17, 2017 – Fundraiser Frame Build from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. We will build them in the AGC maintenance building. No special tools are skills are required. We have everything needed to build the frames. The frames are built on an assembly line where each person performs one or two simple tasks. We have a lot of fun and everyone leaves with a good feeling for helping to support our Juniors Air Rifle and Smallbore Team. This will be a big frame build. The AGC sells frames almost as fast as we can make them in July.

4. Saturday, June 24, 2017 – Bust Fest on Trap 1 from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Come out to one of Arlington’s most popular events. Target loads with a velocity of 1200 feet per second (FPS) and #7.5, #8 or #9 shot are allowed at the AGC due to the proximity of Marriottsville Road. Bring a box of clays or contribute $15 to cover the cost of the cost of buying a box from the AGC. This is a great opportunity for anyone who hasn’t shot trap before to learn the fundamentals. Others can test their skills by shooting at multiple clays.

Have a terrific summer!

ARPC Pistol Steel Event Sunday 11 June 2017

Arlington Rifle and Pistol Club will be hosting a pistol steel event on the AGC 50 yd range, 11 June 2017 from 0900 to 1500 hrs. This event is open to ARPC members and invited guests. AGC club members are welcome to attend.

We will have steel setup at various distances from about 15 yds to 50 yds across half the pistol lanes. We will also have the plate rack setup as well. We will have our new pistol steel torso targets that will eliminate lead splatter towards shooters. Chow will be available for donation around 1100hrs.

Of course, our steel event announcement would not be complete without a few caveats. So here we go.

Setup: we will meet at the club shed at 0815 for load up

Firearms: limited to pistols (no SBR, AR or AK pistols, no rifles of any kind)

Ammunition: Rimfire or centerfire .22lr to 45 cal.; No Magnum or Armor Piercing, No muskets or black powder, No 5.7 mm

Safety: No shooter will participate without a safety brief from an ARPC board member on site. First safety brief is at 0900. All shooters will wear full coverage eye protection. Prescription glasses or sunglasses with no side protection won’t provide enough safety. Hearing protection of choice needs to be worn as well.

There is generally a lot of people at these events and it can be congested at times. Long guns and SBR’s/ AK and AR pistols increase risk and that is why they are not allowed at this event. For the courtesy of other shooters, remember that you can bring guests but only one shoots at a time per badge holder member.

The weather forecast looks good for Sunday.

See you on the range!

Arlington volunteers are needed this Saturday!

To Arlington Rifle and Pistol Club,

Saturday is our 3 position Juniors Smallbore tournament. We need a lot of volunteers to help. We need volunteers at 7:30 a.m. to help set up 50 competition target frames and setting up the food tent. During the match, we need volunteers to help run the match, collect and score targets. At the end of the match 1:30 p.m., we need to quickly clear the targets from the 50 yard line and put them back in our Juniors shed.

We cannot do this event without you. Please help our club support our Juniors program.

Reminder: there is a rimfire only restriction on the Barnes Range during this match.

Thank you,
