Saturday, 20 Feb 2016 Pistol Steel Event

Pistol Steel Event 20 Feb 2016

Arlington Rifle and Pistol Club will be hosting a Pistol Steel shooting event on 20 Feb 2016 between 0900hrs to 1500hrs at the 50 yd pistol range. This will be an open format shoot with no specific course of fire. Targets will be AR500 plate steel setup at ranges from 15 yds to 50 yds across 10 lanes. The event is open to ARPC members, other invited AGC clubs and invited guests.

Preface:

The guidelines and rules set forth are not presented to be difficult or limit your fun factor but are for the safety of you and your fellow shooters as well as preserve the integrity of our shooting steel.

Holster:

For those with the AGC holster certification badge, there will be some steel setup on the far right two positions for holster draw practice. These are the only approved lanes for certified holster draw on the 50 yd range. If you do not have an AGC Holster cert, please leave your holster in your car as you are not approved to fire with a holster at this event.

Guns and Ammo:

Only pistol caliber handguns may be fired at this event. No long guns of any type. Long guns at the pistol range can present a muzzle awareness problem as seen in the past. AK, AR pistol and SBRs can be left at home for the same reason. Not to mention, these firearms are chambered to fire calibers that can present ricochet risks at close range.

No magnum (except .22 magnum) or armor piercing rounds may be fired. Ammo that is rimfire / centerfire.17 to .45 cal may be fired. Leave your .50 AE Desert Eagles at home please. If you are caught violating these club event rules, you will be asked to leave.

Safety Brief:

A detailed safety brief that covers firearms handling, target engagement and emergency procedures will be given. No shooter will be allowed to shoot without a safety brief from a club board member. The ARPC XO will be responsible for the initial brief at 0900ish. Any walk-on personnel arriving throughout the day will be briefed individually.

Weather and kit:

You are required to bring everything you need to shoot including eye and ear protection, ECI’s, and weather appropriate gear. The weather for Saturday is forecast to be sunny and 59 degrees.

Chow:

Our usual complement of Mom Pat’s Range chow will be on hand for your consumption. So please bring some cash to donate in order to keep our self sustaining food fund running for future events.

POC for this event is the ARPC XO. Above all, have fun! See you on the Range!

Public Trap Cancelled This Weekend, February 13 & 14

Message from AGC: We have decided to cancel Public Trap this weekend, both Saturday and Sunday. The temperatures and winds will create dangerous conditions. Even with the shelter and wood stove, it is not worth jeopardizing our employee’s wellbeing for the few folks who may venture out in such harsh conditions. Of course wobble will be available for any member that does show up.

Town Hall in Salisbury with Delegate Mike Smigiel

This Saturday, February 6th, Delegate Mike Smigiel and Captain Jack McCauley will be giving a Town Hall in Salisbury, Maryland on what is happening in Maryland regarding our Second Amendment rights. If you are free Saturday, this would be an outstanding event to attend. Delegate Smigiel has been the pointy end of the spear for our 2A rights every year in Annapolis. He has amazing information as to what actually happened in 2013 when the most severe infringement on our 2nd Amendment Rights occurred with the passing of the Firearms Safety Act. Captain Jack McCauley was in charge of the Handgun Review Board for the Maryland State Police. Captain McCauley now shares compelling testimony about how he discovered that the long standing position of the State of Maryland of restricting the issue Wear and Carry Permits for honest citizens in Maryland was wrong.

I have included two flyers that were created for the event. One is easier to print in black and white if needed. There are links to RSVP for the dinner after the TownHall as well.

Correction: Saturday’s Steel shoot is for February 6th

Not the 16th as previously noted.

200-yd Steel Shoot Saturday, February 16th – Frame Build for Sunday Cancelled

Saturday February 6, 2016 Event Format Change, 200 yd steel shoot

Arlington Rifle and Pistol Club was scheduled for a 3 Gun event on February 6th from 9am to 3pm. Due to the weather, moisture content of the grounds and safety concerns on the 200yd range, we are changing the format to a 200 yd steel shoot.

We will have our legacy steel setup on tactical stands at or near the berm that we will engage from the covered area on the 200 yd line. This 200 yd shoot is no different than any other except we will be using the new method of hanging the steel.

Ammunition restrictions: No magnum or armor piercing of any kind allowed. Rifles shooting up to a 30 cal size equivalent is allowed. If you are not sure if it is authorized, ask us at the range. Willful violators will be asked to leave.

Administrative: AGC clubs and their guests are welcome. The range is closed for our event, so there should not be any walk-ons or range co-use. There will be food available at the 200 yd line for a usual donation. So bring some cash. Our 200 yd events do not have an event donation associated with them. Safety brief will be given 0900ish and again for any folks arriving late. No one is allowed to shoot without a safety brief and the required eye and ear protection. ECI use and standard AGC range rules apply for this event. It is a static shoot. There will be no running around with guns at the 200 yd event. Please bring any event concerns or questions to the ARPC XO, Paul Casale, on the morning of the event.

Also, the frame build scheduled for Sunday is cancelled. AGC currently has enough frames.
