Arlington Rifle and Pistol Club Upcoming events – September 2015

Upcoming events for September and October:

Tuesday night shoots from 5:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. at the 200 yard range.

Wednesday, September 16th, starting at 6:00 p.m. – Greenbelt has invited Arlington members to participate in their Lollypop night pistol shoot. Two shooters pair off to shoot at 13 clay pigeons pinned to a board with a .22 pistol. Each shooter starts breaking birds from opposite sides of the board. Whoever breaks the center bird first, wins that round. It is a lot of fun. Greenbelt will also have steel plates out for shooting with standard caliber pistols.

Saturday, September 19th: 3-gun shoot from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. at the 200-yard range. We need a lot of help setting up and breaking down this shoot, so if you can, please come out at 8:00 a.m. to help set up.

We had an impromptu Frame build last Sunday, so we will be cancelling the September 20th Frame Build.

The Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Day is Saturday September 26th.
We will need people from 8:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. The AGC will be hosting the DNR day and we will need people to help staff the club table to tell people about our club. There will be pictures of our events to show people what we do. We will hand out club brochures and club cards to encourage people to come out and join in the fun.

Saturday’s 3-Gun Event Details, September 19, 2015

ARPC Multigun Steel Event (Rifle, Pistol, Shotgun) Saturday, 19 September

Arlington Rifle and Pistol Club will be hosting a multigun gun steel event on Saturday 19 September 0900-1500 hrs on the 200yd range.

Firearms: Semiauto AR type Rifle chambered in .223 or 5.56 only (No Green tip/ Armor Piercing of any kind), Semiauto Pistol chambered in standard non-magnum pistol calibers (no AK or AR pistols), Pump or Semiauto Shotgun loaded with bird/ target ammo only (no slugs or buck shot)

Kit: Wrap around eye pro, Ear pro, minimum two pistol and two rifle magazines, pistol holster, magazine holders, shotgun shell holder (optional), rifle sling (optional)

Shooting kit is expensive and people ask why we need to have it. Keep in mind that not having a way to grab magazines easily off your kit can lead to a flagging incident while fumbling for magazines in pockets. Shooting kit is a personal thing, it should be functional, safe and work for you.

Ammo count: 100 rds Rifle, 100 rds pistol, 25 rds shotgun (Anyone found shooting armor piercing ammo will be asked to leave immediately)

Course of fire and safety brief will be given at 0900. Late shooters will fall in on the event only after being briefed by the ARPC RSO.

Specific safety procedures and course of fire will be given in detail the morning or the event. Some examples of safety violations include muzzle flagging, not clearing a firearm after the course of fire, finger on the trigger when not having a sight picture, and firearm not on safe unless having a sight picture. We are not authorized to draw a loaded pistol in this event per AGC safety regulations.

Chow: There will be our usual grill food and drinks available on the range. So please bring some extra cash for a food donation.

Event Donation: ARPC will be accepting a $10 donation per shooter for the event. ARPC steel fund donations are used for the maintenance of current targets and purchasing of new steel targets.

This is a popular event for our members as they like the personal challenge it presents. Hope to see you there!

Target Frame Build Sunday, 13 September

To Arlington Rifle and Pistol Club,

We are having an impromptu target frame build Sunday from 9:00am to 12:00pm in the lower Barnes Range House classroom. This is a fundraiser for our Juniors Team. We build target frames on an assembly line basis where each person performs one or two simple tasks. No tools or experience is required. We have a lot of fun and you will leave with a good feeling that you helped our Juniors team.

Thank You,
Rob

9 September Wednesday – Club Meeting at Memorial Hall 7-9 PM

We will discuss the usual notes from the Trustee Meeting, the upcoming 3 Gun event on 19 September, Shed build, and our proof of concept night shoot on the 22 Sept. Bring your show and tell items, comments and concerns. Hope to see you there!

Reminder for the Bust Fest Sunday, September 6th

Arlington Rifle and Pistol Club will be having another bust fest Sunday, 6 Sep 2015 0900-1500hrs. We know its Labor Day weekend but some people just have to bust some clays rather than go on vacation. So come out and enjoy the fun, camaraderie and as always good food. We charge $10 per shooter for all the birds you want to break. We apply the $10 towards reimbursing the AGC for the clay pigeons we break during the shoot. It is a very popular event. Please remember that we are only allowed to use Target loads with #7.5, #8 or #9 shot with a velocity of no greater than 1200 feet per second (FPS).
