Last Minute Updates for This Weekend

To Arlington Rifle and Pistol Club,

Saturday, April 11th – We are having our frame build outside near the Juniors Shed on the Barnes Range from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. No tools or skills are required. We work on an assembly line basis, with each person completing a simple task. This fundraiser supports our Arlington Juniors. It is a lot of fun and you leave with a warm feeling knowing you helped our Juniors team.

Congratulations to Arlington Juniors! Four Arlington Juniors qualified for and will be competing in the Junior Olympics in Colorado Springs (Torrance, Wynn, Sarah and Claire). They all also qualified for the Army National Championships at Ft. Benning Georgia, but only Wynn will be able to compete in both of these events, because the women’s schedule for the Junior Olympics overlaps the Army National Championship tournament.

Sunday, April 12th – Arlington will be having it’s 2 Gun Steel Challenge event at the 200 yard range from 0830 – 1630. Please come at 0800 to help setup. Bring out your sporting rifle (AR, AK or similar rifle and a pistol). Ammo requirement: You will need 12 rounds of rifle cartridges and 14 rounds of pistol cartridges for each circuit of the course. Bring at least two pistol and two rifle magazines. This event is very popular and a lot of fun. Holsters are allowed, but you may only have a pistol in the holster at the event. If you do not have a holster you may borrow one. If you leave the 200 yard range, you must remove your pistol. There will be a table for loading magazines and another table/area for uncasing your firearms. You are not to have a loaded firearm outside of the designated area. Please wait for instructions. We will need a lot of help getting everything out to the range. We will not be allowed to drive on the range. Parking is restricted to the parking lot outside the 200 yard and 100 yard range parking lots.

Have a great weekend!

Thank you,

Rob

Arlington Rifle and Pistol Club April Events

Arlington Rifle and Pistol Club,

Saturday, April 4th, we will be having our Charity Wobble Trap shoot from 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. to benefit the Little Sisters of the Poor, St. Martin House in Baltimore. The Little Sisters care for the elderly poor of any denomination. They rely 100% on donations to run the St. Martins House. They take excellent care of the residents. We collect $6 per round of Wobble Trap with $3 going to the AGC and $3 going to the Little Sisters of the Poor St. Martin House. If you can, please bring canned goods that you would like to donate to the Little Sisters. Thank you very much for helping. Arlington club members and guests have been very generous at our charity events.

Wednesday, April 8th, we will be having our Club meeting at Memorial Hall from 7:00 p.m – 9:00 p.m. We will be discussing upcoming events and filling you in on what is going on with the club and the AGC range. Please bring any show and tell items you have to share. We will be having our swap meet at the back of the room, so bring in anything you wish to sell, trade or give away.

Saturday, April 11th, we will be having our Fundraiser Frame Build to benefit our Juniors team from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 in the lower Barnes Range House classroom. No experience or tools are necessary. Please no armor piercing or ammunition with a velocity of greater than 3,300 feet per second (FPS). You can bring a holster for this shoot if you have one, but you may not wear your pistol outside of the 200 yard range. We will have a designated area for your firearms and a separate area for loading magazines. This is a very popular shoot! Everybody has a lot of fun. We are trying to raise money to upgrade our steel targets and are asking for a suggested donation of $5 to go towards our new targets.

Saturday, April 25, 2015, we will be a Bust Fest on the Trap 1 from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. We charge $10 per shooter for all the birds you want to break. We apply the $10 towards reimbursing the AGC for the clay pigeons we break during the shoot. It is a very popular event. Please remember that we are only allowed to use Target loads with #7.5, #8 or #9 shot with a velocity of no greater than 1200 feet per second (FPS).

A big thanks to all of the Arlington Club members who volunteered at the AGC Range Day. Arlington volunteers cleaned out the holes in the target slabs on the 100 yard range, cut brush, picked up branches, rake, plant grass and helped clean up the range. Everyone did a terrific job!

Have a great Easter Holiday!
