Upcoming ARPC Events for February and March

Arlington Rifle and Pistol Club,

Upcoming events:

Saturday, February 21st – from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. – We are having our club steel plate – stuffed animal safari pistol shoot at the pistol range. The range is very soft and we will not be able to drive any vehicles beyond the main parking area. We will need a lot of help setting up and taking down this shoot. We need volunteers to come out by 8:00 a.m. to help carry our gear out to the range.

We will have target frames available for paper target practice. Our pistol shoots are a terrific opportunity for members to earn their NRA Winchester Marksmanship Certificates and Patches.

Sunday, March 8th from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. – Bust Fest Trap Shoot on Trap 1. The cost is $10 for all the birds (clay pigeons) you want to break. Target loads only – #7.5, #8 or #9 shot with a velocity of 1200 Feet Per Second (FPS) or less.

Wednesday, March 11th 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. we will be having our club meeting in Memorial Hall. Bring out your show and tell items. The swap meet will be available for anyone who wants to sell, trade or give away items.

Sunday, March 15th from 12:30 – 3:00 p.m. – Fundraiser Frame Build benefitting our Junior’s team will be in the Lower Barnes Range House

Saturday, March 21st, from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. we will be having a steel plate rifle shoot at the 100-yard range.

ARPC February 2015 Newsletter

To Arlington Rifle and Pistol Club,

We have a lot of events coming up in February.

Saturday, February 7th, we have a 2-Gun shoot at the 200-yard range from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. We will be shooting steel from cover and moving to engage our next target. We will be shooting sporting rifles, (AR and AK’s) and pistols at steel plates. You will be allowed to use a holster if you have one, but the pistol has to be without a mag and with the slide back. You will only be allowed to load firearms in designated areas for safety. If you don’t have a holster, we have some you can borrow. This is a fun shoot so don’t be intimidated by the name. No one cares if you miss a shot or what time you get. The bottom line is shooting safely and having fun. Please no armor piercing ammunition: Green tip, steel penetrating, or ammunition with a velocity of more than 3300 feet per second.

Sunday, February 8th, we will be having a fundraiser frame build benefiting our Juniors team from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. in the Lower Barnes Range House. We will have all of the tools we need to do this on hand. No special skills are needed. We build our frames on an assembly line basis where everyone performs one or two simple tasks. It is a lot of fun and we all leave with a good feeling that we have helped our Junior’s team.

Tuesday, February 10th – Show your State Representatives that Marylanders support the 2nd Amendment. The annual 2A Tuesday rally supporting the 2nd Amendment will be held in Annapolis at the square in front of the Senate Building. I will be posting the details of times and locations where we will be meeting. We can also make arrangements for car pools. We often have breakfast or a cup of coffee at a local restaurant and have lunch afterwards. We have done this in the past and it is always a lot of fun.

Wednesday, February 11th – Club meeting in Memorial Hall from 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. We will be going over our new club schedule of events and letting you know about all of the changes to expect at the AGC this year. Please bring in your show and tell. We will have the swap meet at the back of the room. We do have Eley Purple box Target .22 LR ammo for $60 a brick containing 500 rounds. Our Junior’s are now using different ammo, so we are selling this off.

Saturday, February 21st – we are having our club pistol shoot at the pistol range from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. We will be shooting steel plates, stuffed animals, stake shoots and paper targets. This has always been a very popular fun shoot.

I want to thank everyone for all of your help volunteering at our club shoots. We really appreciate everyone who is able to come out around 8:00 a.m. to help set up the shoot and who help break down the targets at the end of the day. We can’t do these programs without our volunteers. Also a big thank you goes to Mom Pat and Bob for the wonderful food at our events.

Thank you,
Rob
