Maryland Department of Natural Resources Day This Saturday, Sep. 27

To Arlington Rifle and Pistol Club,

Saturday, September 27th the Associated Gun Clubs is hosting the Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Day. The range will be closed for shooting, but open for displays and demonstrations promoting hunting and fishing in Maryland. It would be a great opportunity to bring your family to the range for a day of fun.

Arlington will need some volunteers to help staff our booth. If you can come by to help or just stop by and socialize, it would be much appreciated.

Have a great weekend!

100-yard Shoot/Postponed Frame Build

To Arlington Rifle and Pistol Club,

This Saturday, September 20th, from 9:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m., we will be having a 100 yard Steel Plate shoot at the Barnes Multipurpose Range. We will need your help setting up and taking down the targets. Everything is ready to go, but we need a hand loading the target materials into a truck and setting them up at the berm. Please bring a cordless drill if you have one to help hang the steel.

The Fundraiser Frame build scheduled for Sunday, September 21st is being postponed until October.

Thank you all very much for all of your help!

Emergency Frame Build and Annual Club Family Picnic This Weekend

To Arlington Rifle and Pistol Club,

1. This Saturday, September 6th, from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00. We will be having an emergency frame build fundraiser in the Memorial Hall Pellet Trap Range. No experience or tools are necessary. We work on an assembly line process to make the frames. We need to buy replacement rifles for our Juniors team. It is a lot of fun and you will be serving a good cause by helping our Juniors.

2. Also, Saturday morning, the 4H is having a tournament at the Barnes Range Saturday morning. Arlington helps the 4H with Range time during the year. They need range badge holders to help during the match. Please come out and help them.

3. Annual Club family picnic Sunday, September 7th from 12:00 – 4:00 p.m. will be held in conjunction with our Bust Fest at trap 1 from 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. The Picnic will be held in Memorial Hall. Bring your family and your shotguns!

Initial Picnic Announcement

We last wrote announcing our plans to have a ARPC picnic on Sunday 7 September 2014. The picnic will be held in conjunction with the always popular Shotgun Bust Fest. We are now asking you to commit. We need a rough idea how many club members and guests will be attending so we can sort out menu items and project cost. The club will provide the brats, burgers and dogs with drinks and sundry items such as plates, utensils and the like. We will ask members and guests to bring sides to complete the service. More on that in August.

For now, please reply to: indicating your intention to attend, the number of guests and if there are special menu items or diet restrictions we should be aware of.

Please and I can’t stress this enough, reply soonest. I will compile a separate e-mail alias of those interested in attending and will initiate future picnic correspondence using that alias exclusively.

Watch for Deer!

It’s that time of the year. The deer are out at night and for some reason love to run in front of cars. This happened to me on Folly Quarter road last year and again last Tuesday night at the very same spot. Fortunately, I missed them. I recommend using the main roads if possible at night and please keep an eye out for them and be prepared to stop.

Drive safely!

Thank you,
