Need Help With Setup/Teardown for Saturday’s Shoot

To Arlington Rifle and Pistol Club,

This Saturday August 23rd, we will be having a steel plate rifle shoot at the 100 yard Barnes Multipurpose range from 9:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. We will be a little short handed, so we need help setting up and taking down the shoot. If you can get to the range by 8:00 a.m. to help and set up it would be much appreciated. We will also need help at the end of the shoot to help break down the targets and get them put away. It doesn’t take a lot of time when we have a lot of hands.

Ammunition restrictions for shooting steel targets: Please no armor piercing, magnum rounds or ammunition with a velocity greater than 3400 Feet Per Second (FPS). Please avoid cross firing and engage targets in front of you.

Reminder: we are having a Club picnic and Bust Fest on September 7th. Please go to the website blog and sign up, so we know how many people are coming.

Thank you!
Rob

Initial Picnic Announcement

We last wrote announcing our plans to have a ARPC picnic on Sunday 7 September 2014. The picnic will be held in conjunction with the always popular Shotgun Bust Fest.

We are now asking you to commit. We need a rough idea how many club members and guests will be attending so we can sort out menu items and project cost.

The club will provide the brats, burgers and dogs with drinks and sundry items such as plates, utensils and the like. We will ask members and guests to bring sides to complete the service. More on that in August.

For now, please reply to: arlingtonrpc.treasurer@gmail.com indicating your intention to attend, the number of guests and if there are special menu items or diet restrictions we should be aware of.

Please and I can’t stress this enough, reply soonest. I will compile a separate e-mail alias of those interested in attending and will initiate future picnic correspondence using that alias exclusively.

Expect to get a read from us in early August with additional details.

Gun Cleaning Clinic This Saturday

To Arlington Rifle and Pistol Club,

We will not be having a frame build this Saturday. We will be having a gun cleaning clinic. We have some club rifles to clean, but bring your dirty rifles and pistols to clean them with your buddies. It is a great way to learn how to break down and clean your AR, AK, pistols or bolt guns.

It should be a good time. Please bring whatever cleaning supplies you have. We will have some there, but you will need to learn to use what you have, so you can do it at home.

We will be doing this from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

See you there. We will have a lot of fun.

Thank you,

Rob

.22LR Ammo Sale Wednesday Night

Bring your cash or checks to the club meeting Wednesday night. We will have .22lr ammunition for sale. We will provide pricing information at the meeting.

New Range Rules Now Posted on the AGC Web Site

To Arlington Rifle and Pistol Club members:

Alex Wessel kindly posted this and has made a great suggestion. Please read the new AGC range rules and keep a copy of them in your range bag. It is a good idea if you are going to shoot at the pistol, rifle or trap ranges that you read that section of the rules before you to, to ensure you comply with the new rules.

Thank you for posting this Alex!
Rob

Alex Wessel:
I strongly recommend that you read and print the new Range Rules out so you can have a copy with you to refer to while you are at the range. There are now penalties for breaking these rules that could end with the suspension of your range badge.

Upcoming Events for August 2014

To Arlington Rifle and Pistol Club,

We had a terrific 2-gun shoot with Greenbelt on July 29th. I want to say a big thank you to Pat and Bob for handling the food concession. We had a fantastic spread of food. Pat had her famous chili, hamburgers, hot dogs, brats, veggie trays, fruit, cookies and soft drinks. No one went away hungry.

A thank you also goes to Jerry for donating cases of soda to the club for our shoots.

We had a lot of volunteers who came out to help set up and take down the shoot. We can’t do these programs without your help. We are grateful to all of our club members. Greenbelt complimented Paul for all his work helping to run shooters through the course.

Upcoming Arlington Events for August 2014.

Frame Build – Saturday, August 9th from 9:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. at the Juniors shed. We are having an impromptu frame build, because the AGC has run out of target frames. Please come out and give us a hand. No tools or experience is necessary.

Bust Fest – Sunday, August 10th from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at the Trap 1. The cost is $10 per shooter for all the trap you want to shoot. Please remember that the AGC requires us to use target loads only with # 7.5, #8 and #9 shot with 1200 feet per second or less.

Club meeting – Wednesday, August 13th from 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. in Memorial Hall.

Bring in a show and tell item. We will have the Arlington Swap meet in the back of the room. There will be a special sale for club members only that will be announced in the next day or two.

Steel Plate Rifle Shoot – Saturday, August 23rd from 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at the Barnes Multi-purpose 100 yard range. We will be shooting steel plates and having the NRA Winchester rifle qualifications for rifle.

Have a great month!

See you at the range,
Rob
