** Gun Bill Day in the Senate 2/26/14 ***

10 firearms associated bills (as of 2/13) are being heard on 2/26 in the Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee.

If you plan to testify in person, sign up is from 9 am to 12:45 pm. One viable plan for your day is to get down there, sign up to testify, visit your reps and/or listen in at the statehouse chamber session, go have lunch (or have an early lunch then visit your reps) and then show up for the hearing.

If you can’t make it to the hearing, please go to the AGC legislative website: and use the automated email tool. You can write a brief email. It can be as short as I am for or opposed to SB XYZ. IF you want to testify, you could simply sit down and say you are for or opposed to a single bill or give a listing. If you don’t feel comfortable doing this, it truly does help just by being there. The number of people present, does make an impression.

I will not be able to attend the Senate Hearings, but am planning on attending the House hearings on March 4th.

Thank you,

Steel Plate Pistol Shoot/Libby Planning

To Arlington Rifle & Pistol Club,

We will be having a club steel plate pistol shoot this Saturday, from 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. We will be shooting steel plates at 50 yards, plastic toys at 25 yards, paper target stand holders will be available at 10 yards for your target frames and we will be having a stake shoot. Stake shoots are where you have two teams of shooters trying to cut a 2 x 4 board in half by shooting it. Whichever team cuts their board in half first wins. It is a lot of fun and is expected to be a warm sunny day. We will have food and soft drinks. Please come out early and help set up.

There will also be a Libby planning meeting in the lower Barnes Classroom at 2:00 p.m. after the shoot. Shelton needs help planning this years Libby Match.

100-yd Rifle Shoot and Fundraiser Frame Build This Weekend

To Arlington Rifle and Pistol Club,

It looks like light snow for a few hours tomorrow. We will be having our scheduled 100 yard rifle shoot. We could use some volunteers to help set up in the morning and break down the shoot in the afternoon. We have a new frame, so it should go a lot faster. Please bring a cordless drill if you have one.

We also have our Juniors Fundraiser frame build scheduled for Sunday from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. in the lower Barnes Classroom. We need help building target frames. No experience or tools are necessary. We build the frames in an assembly line, where each person performs one or two simple tasks. It goes pretty quickly, we normally can build 50 target frames in about 1.5 hours.

Arlington Club members made a good showing at the Second Amendment Rally in Annapolis. It was very inspiring to hear the speakers and it was a lot of fun seeing everyone. Thank you to everyone who was able to make it.

Reminder: We have a club meeting on Wednesday February 12th from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. in Memorial Hall. John Josselyn the AGC Legislative Vice President, will be leading a discussion on the gun bills being debated in Annapolis. Please go to the AGC website and catch up on what bills are being proposed. Please use the website to send emails to your representatives. The website has an automated email tool that can send an email to every representative in Maryland with a click of a button. AGC members sent 1.6 million emails last year using this tool.

Have a great weekend!
