Arlington Rifle and Pistol Club May 2013 Newsletter

May was a busy month for Arlington.

We had two club shoots in May:

The Bust Fest on May 18th was a lot of fun. We had a good turn out. Arlington Members ate three packs of hotdogs and broke a lot of clays, Arlington style. Jim Shaw used his duck call to draw in the flock of clays for the shotgun wielding Arlington club members.

The May 26th, Steel Plate Center fire Rifle shoot at the 100 yards was well attended. Sections of steel had to keep getting added to accommodate additional shooters. It was a great showing especially considering it was a holiday weekend!

The May 11th frame build broke a record! We made 51 frames and put everything away in two hours time. A big thanks goes out to the Arlington Club members who came by to help support our Juniors Team.

Upcoming events in June:

Saturday, June 1st – We need volunteers to help assemble the competition target frames for the Arlington RPC sponsored Libby Small bore match on Saturday June 8th. We will be meeting at the Juniors shed at the Barnes Multi-purpose 100 yard range from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m.

Saturday, June 8th – This is an Arlington Rifle and Pistol Club Sponsored small bore match at the Barnes Multi-purpose 100 yard range. We need as many volunteers as we can get to help with the match. No experience is necessary. There will be inside and outside volunteer positions. Donuts and coffee will be provided in the morning and pizza for lunch. The match will begin at 9:00 a.m. This is normally an all day event. We don’t expect it to be as large or take as long as previous years, due to the ammo shortage, we won’t have as many teams attending. Please come out and help. Arlington and our Juniors need your support for this.

Wednesday, June 12th – Arlington Club Meeting will be held in Memorial Hall from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. We will be talking about our upcoming club events for June and July. The Arlington Swap Meet will be at the back of the room if you have any items to sell, trade or give away. If you have an unusual firearm or item of interest, please bring it to share with the club at our show and tell period. We will also have a question and answer time for anyone who has a firearms related question to ask club members.

Saturday, June 22nd – we will be having a Fundraiser Frame Build from 9:00 – 12:30 a.m. in the basement classroom of the Barnes Range House. No experience or tools are necessary. We have an assembly line production where each person performs one or two simple tasks. It is a lot of fun and helping out our Juniors gives everyone a great feeling.

***Please put the June 8th Libby Match on your calendar. This is an Arlington sponsored event. We need a lot of volunteers. We will have coffee and donuts in the morning and provide lunch to our volunteers.

Thank you!
